Artist Bio:
Team Islas is the combined musical power of University of North Texas graduates Patricia Islas and Doug Bush. Together they are international clinicians, adjudicators, educators, performers, and composers within the percussion community. As educators, they have experience teaching beginning percussionists through drum corps and college students. As performers, they have worked with artists such as Gregg Bissonette and Imogen Heap and performed with Grammy nominated artists Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez and Ignacio Berroa. As composers, they both have written many popular percussion solos and ensembles. Doug Bush’s bestseller Super Hands is one of two of his published snare drum books. Together Patricia and Doug have written and arranged for numerous award winning high school band programs including champions of the HEB Drumline Contest, Plano Drumline Contest, North Texas Drumline Contest, Lewisville Drumline Contest, Lone Star Drumline Contest, PASIC Drumline Contest and medalist for Texas State and BOA marching bands. They have also served as percussion arrangers for the Guardians, Southwind, and Blue Knights drum and bugle corps.
