Joe started playing drums at the age of 5 in 1987, and has continued to heavily pursue the instrument ever since. He began teaching in 2005, and taught full time at Long & McQuade Music Academy from 2014 - 2021 before opening his own studio, Lakeside Drum Lessons. Prior to teaching, Joe studied in the Berklee Music Program at Selkirk College in Nelson, BC. He has been involved in many bands creating/performing original music since the age of 14 and won an award for best music production from the Saskatchewan Drama Association at the age of 17. He is able to teach a wide range of genres from jazz sambas to heavy metal, and is enthusiastic about helping his students develop a strong individual practice routine and providing the tools to perform live with everything from a solid stage presence to efficiency in working with groups
