We recently caught up with UK drummer and percussionist Terl Bryant who was out in New Mexico recording at Albuquerque’s Studio150. Terl was tracking for producer Ken Riley which included work on a piece with hip hop legends Public Enemy that is short-listed for use in a new Hollywood movie blockbuster. Riley liked the Mapex sound enough to order his own Saturn series kit at Terl’s spec for ongoing use at the studio.
As part of Terl’s visit he took clinics and workshops at The National Worship Leaders Conference, an event hosted by Calvary of Albuquerque, one of America’s largest churches with an average attendance of 17,000 people!
Terl came on board as a Mapex International artist in 2009 and has without doubt kept his Saturn kits and Black Panther snares busy. This year he has been on tour in Europe alongside Nick Beggs (of Kajagoogoo fame), playing for minimalist composer Stefano Ianne, and covering the UK on live dates with legendary gospel-folk singer/songwriter Graham Kendrick.
Terl's long list of touring and recording credits include work with John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin/ Them Crooked Vultures), Faith Hill, Matt Redman (GMA Grammy artist), Peter Murphy (US No.1 ‘Cuts You Up’) and many others.
Terl Bryant plays Mapex Saturn Series drums:
