Hong Jie was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of music in 2003 and studied percussion under Professor Yang ruwen. During his schooling, he served as the chief of Percussion Music Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music Youth National Orchestra. After graduating from the University in 2007, he won the highest scholarship in Germany and went to Hamburg Conservatory of music to continue his study under Professor Heins lichius. He successfully obtained the degree of performer in 2008. In 2010, he served as a guest teacher of jazz drum major in Shanghai Conservatory of music. In 2012, he was admitted as a graduate student of Shanghai Conservatory of music with the first professional achievement. At the same time, he was employed as the Editorial Committee of the internal and grading materials of Shanghai Conservatory of music and the Editorial Committee of the national grading materials of jazz drum by Shanghai percussion Association. From 2012 to 2013, he served as the judge of major percussion competitions, In 2014, he was employed as a judge of the international Chinese percussion competition and offered master courses.
