David S. Field was born and raised in Los Angeles’ San Fernando valley. He was brought up in a household that loved music and was exposed to many different genres at an early age. His father, who had been a Rock Critic for the Chicago Tribune and The LA Daily News, always had musicians coming over to jam and talk about music. It was at this time that he was exposed to bands like the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix Experience that would greatly influence him later in life. David started a band when he was 11 years old with childhood friends and future long term bandmates. His friends wanted him to learn the bass, but all he wanted to do was be a drummer. His parents bought him a starter kit with the promise that if he stuck with it, they would support him in being a musician. He played in numerous bands throughout his teen years, mainly focusing on punk rock and rock and roll. Practically every weekend was spent going to shows in Hollywood and Downtown LA, hanging out and talking with older and tour hardened musicians. When he wasn't at shows, he and his friends were playing in his garage, even when it got to be 105 degrees in the Valley heat. While attending college, David became a founding member of Prima Donna with his longtime friends and musical collaborators Kevin Preston and Aaron Minton. Heavily influenced by early Punk, Rock and Roll and 70s Glam they quickly gained the attention of clubs and other musicians. After being together just over a year and only having released a highly collectible heart shaped vinyl, they were offered their first European Tour, David was 20 years old. Since then, David has spent the last 8 years relentlessly touring and recording around the world. Prima Donna caught the attention of rock icons Green Day, who asked them to be the support act on their 2009/2010 European and Asian continent arena tours. Between 2012 and 13 they toured Europe 4 times on their own Headlining tours, and most recently finished a 2 month American and Canadian theatre tour with pop icon, Adam Ant. Their latest release, “Bless This Mess” has been very well received and its first single, “Feral Children,” was mixed by Grammy winner D. Sardy (Jet, Wolfmother, Slayer, Noel Gallagher, many more). David has toured in over 30 countries and crossed the US numerous times, he is glad to call Mapex his new home and looks forward to a great future with the company.
