Artist Bio:

Waldo Madera, born in Queens, N.Y. on April 12 1968. Since the age of five, he was raised in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), origin country of his family. At age 13, he began to teach himself how to play drums. He quickly earns a good reputation in the local music scene having the chance to work with most of the best jazz musicians and bands around the island at a very young age. He also became a first call in recording studios as a session drummer. Between 1987 and 1991 Waldo moved back to New York to achieve his bachelor degree in Jazz & Commercial music at Manhattan School of Music. While in music school he also took private lessons with John Riley. As an instrumentalist he has work with some of the greatest jazz exponents such as: Paquito D' Rivera, Rafael Cruz, Michel Camilo, Dave Valentine, V�ctor Mendoza, Arturo Sandoval, David S�nchez, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Giovanni Hidalgo, Sheila Escovedo, Cachao, Tom Scott, Anthony Jackson, Wynton Marsalis, Scott Henderson, Oskar Cartaya, H�ctor Infanz�n, Guillermo Vadal�, Luis Salinas and more. Waldo has performed at many of the major & most prestigious jazz festivals around USA, Canada, Latin America and Europe. He released his 1st solo album in 1995 under the Label BMG/COYOACAN RECORDS. Waldo also works as hired musician with a long list of top Latin pop & rock artists for tours and/or record dates. Just to mention a few: Ricky Martin, Juanes, Carlos Santana, Jos� Feliciano, Ricardo Arjona, Alejandro Sanz, Miguel Bos�, Ricardo Montaner, Cristian Castro, Pandora, Jos� Luis El Puma Rodr�guez,, Celia Cruz, Juan Luis Guerra, Emmanuel, Raphael, Edith M�rquez, Francisco C�spedes, Sin Badera & more. When away from the tour scene he also works as a composer, arranger and producer for various other artist & bands from Latin America. You can listen to Waldo�s session work on more then 200 albums plus 4 DVD/CD�s with Ricky Martin including the MTV unplugged from 2006. On February 2nd 2012 he was called upon to record another MTV unplugged but this time with Colombian superstar and 18 time Grammy Award winner, JUANES. This DVD/CD will be released during May 2012 and a tour of 118 dates will start on July. During April 2012 he will be recording his new instrumental solo album with all original compositions. Waldo speaks fluently Spanish & English.
