Sharon Ransom is a professional drummer, performer, and educator based in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. Since 2019, she has built her private studio, Ransom Drum Lab, into a thriving hub for drum education, teaching hundreds of students both locally and around the world. Her work has also been recognized by Meta.
Sharon was featured in Facebook’s International Women’s Day campaign in March 2020, where she was flown to Los Angeles to perform in a commercial highlighting women’s communities on the platform. She also appeared in a national commercial for Destination Canada, where her drumming was used to symbolize the “heartbeat” of the country, promoting local tourism across Canada.
Her work has been featured in Adweek (New York), DRUM! Magazine, and on NowThis, where a video of her drumming at her own wedding gained viral attention. She has also earned recognition through the Sherwood Music Competition, winning one of her own drum kits, and has produced a wide range of educational and performance videos that have received strong engagement online.
In addition to running Ransom Drum Lab, Sharon previously worked as a Community Specialist at Drumeo in Abbotsford, British Columbia. She has also taught a number of drum clinics and workshops, working with students of all skill levels, and has served as a church music director for several years.
