Artist Bio:

Baltimore native Matt Halpern, formerly with the Washington D.C. based group Animals as Leaders, is currently in the progressive metal band Periphery (http://www.periphery.net/). Periphery is on tour Fall 2017 with their third full-length album, “Periphery III: Select Difficulty”.

Matt is also co-founder of The Entertainment Institute (http://www.thinktei.com/), a new music education platform that gives fans and players access to musicians and professionals currently working in the industry through customized workshops, both online and in person.

Matt's most recent project, GetGood Drums (http://getgooddrums.com) is a venture he started with fellow Periphery band members. The GetGood Drums website is dedicated to elevating the sound of drums in music projects.

Matt is a fixture of the drum scene, having won the Modern Drummer Magazine readers’ poll in the Educator/Clinician and Metal Drummer categories as well as countless other awards. Halpern plays on the Mapex Saturn Series.
